At Joyland we use Creative Curriculum, an evidenced based, learning curriculum for children ages birth through 5. It is used to set objectives for each of our classes, set the standards for our portfolios, write our lesson plans and classroom assessments.
A curriculum is the what, why, how and why of a program. It guides in planning and offering excellent care and education to the children that it serves. It helps us to be intentional about the experiences that we offer while still having the flexibility to change the program to meet the needs and interests of the children in our care.
Developed by the company Teaching Strategies, Creative Curriculum has helped early childhood educators across the country to plan and implement content-rich, developmentally appropriate programs that support active learning and promote children’s progress in all developmental areas. An overview of the curriculum can be found at https://www.teachingstrategies.com/page/ccs_overview.cfm.
An overview of the objectives for each classroom based on Creative Curriculum can be found below. Please note that the Kindergarten class follows the ODE’s Common Core Standards not Creative Curriculum and can be found at http://www.corestandards.org/about-the-standards.
